At Grounded and Growing Counseling, we firmly believe in transparency and ensuring you know your rights and choices throughout the therapy process. In accordance with Texas law (House Bill 4224 and Section 181.105 of the Texas Health and Safety Code), we want to ensure you receive clarity and understand your rights and available resources regarding accessing your records and providing feedback.

Your Rights in Therapy

  • You can reach out directly to Margaret at margaret@groundedgrowingcounseling.com to request a copy of your records. Please specify the type of information you are requesting in writing. A fee of $25 will be requested at the time of the request to cover the administrative costs. If you are a couple requesting records, requests require the written consent of both partners in order for records to be sent.

  • We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care, and we strive to provide a space where you can heal, be heard, and feel respected. If you have concerns, we want to hear from you so we can address any issues promptly and effectively. We invite you to share your concerns and feedback directly with your clinician.

If we are unable to resolve your concerns, or if you wish to file a consumer complaint regarding mental health services, you have the right to do so with the Texas Office of the Attorney General. You may contact them at https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer-protection.

  • The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) regulates licensed mental health professionals in Texas. If you have questions about licensure or professional standards, you may contact the Texas BHEC directly at https://bhec.texas.gov/contact-us/.
