Grounded in who you are. Growing in who you’re becoming.
Hi, I’m Margaret
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Le Shepard, MA, LPC-S, and the founder of Grounded & Growing Counseling. My approach is anchored in compassion for your hardest moments, collaboration in our journey as a team, and unconditional care in the vulnerable places. I believe in creating a space for you to become more deeply grounded in who you are and what guides you to then grow into a more whole, authentic “you.”
I became a therapist because I know what it’s like to be the one sitting on the couch in search of relief and healing from cycles of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and anxiety. My own journey helped me unravel stuck cycles and learn new patterns, reconnect with my inner voice, heal past wounds, and build confidence to navigate life’s transitions, relationships, and pressures with self-compassion and clarity. Now, my passion is helping others do the same.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University (whoop!), and after a few years of working in parish ministry, I completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Divine Mercy University. I use an integrative approach of evidence-based therapies, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and trauma-informed approaches to help you connect with your inner experiences and receive care in the aching, vulnerable places. With these approaches, I offer more than a “quick fix” or a “band-aid” to your pain. During our sessions, we will establish necessary support and concrete tools while also getting to the root of your pain and the patterns that keep you stuck so you can experience a felt sense of healing and long-lasting relief.
Outside the office, you can find me spending time in nature on a long walk, reading at a local coffee shop with a vanilla latte in hand, rewatching my favorite movies and TV shows, or spending time with my husband, family, and friends.
“Owning our story can be hard, but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
